The 1880 US Federal Census Calhoun County Georgia lists Hiram and Sophie as the patriarch and matriarch of the Wakefield family. They were 54 and 46 years old, respectively.  Both of them and their parents were born in South Carolina.  Hiram and Sophie had seven of their children living with them.  They were: Sidney, age 20, Evans, age 15, Laura, age 14, Caffy, age 10, John, age 8, Herbert, age 6, and Hun, age 4.  They also had at least two other children living close by who were married with families of their own.  They were Warren and Bradford Wakefield.
